Uluru base tour and sunset drinks
This afternoon visit the Uluru-Kata Tjuta Cultural Centre and Maruku Arts and Craft Cooperative, dedicated to interpreting local Anangu culture and law. You’ll receive an introduction to Tjukurpa (law, knowledge, religion, philosophy), Anangu art, the Anangu way of life (traditional and current), history, languages, wildlife and the joint management of the park. Afterwards, travel to the waterhole of Mutitjulu at the base of Uluru for a guided walk, on which you’ll view ancient cave paintings and also learn about the Aboriginal legends of Kuniya Tjukurpa (Python Dreaming). Then embark on the guided Mala Walk, during which you’ll be told the story of the Mala (Hare Wallaby) people who once lived at Uluru. See fascinating painted caves and learn about the region’s unique geology and flora. As you tour the base of Uluru, visit Kantju Gorge, a waterhole and old hunting ground. Later in the afternoon, travel to a lovely vantage point to watch the sun set at Uluru. Enjoy a complimentary glass of wine and canapés as the dusk deepens into night, and admire the ever-changing colours of the monolith while the sun sinks below the horizon.
